Catherine Sheridan is a leading force in Irish Drama and Arts in Education, with a near three-decade career inspiring individuals and communities across the country and beyond. A multifaceted arts professional, Catherine is a facilitator, director, playwright, actor, drama lecturer, producer, project manager, arts consultant, and mentor. Her extensive expertise across these disciplines positions her as a knowledgeable and credible figure, capable of developing and delivering impactful programmes for diverse audiences. She is recognised for creating and implementing innovative programmes that not only inspire young minds and foster artistic growth but also equip individuals and organisations with valuable skills for success in the 21st century.

Her work translates to a deep understanding of fostering potential, enhancing communication, and building effective teams – skills highly valued by businesses and organisations. Her leadership is evident in her roles as National Trainer for Creative Clusters with the Department of Education, Creative Associate with the Arts Council of Ireland, and founder and Artistic Director of the Roscommon County Youth Theatre. These positions highlight her influence within the field and her commitment to developing future leaders.

Catherine holds a Master’s degree in Drama and Performance from University College Dublin and a Diploma in Drama, Arts, and Theatre Studies from Maynooth University.

Her collaboration with esteemed institutions across Ireland, including Mary Immaculate College, UL, NUI Galway, The Arts Council, the Department of Education and Skills, the ESCI Network, Oide, Creative Ireland, Youth Theatre Ireland, various Local Authorities, and a number of arts bodies including The Abbey Theatre, The Drama League of Ireland, Calipo Picture & Film Company, and Branar, demonstrates her ability to work effectively within diverse settings and build strong partnerships. Her international training with renowned practitioners like Frantic Assembly, Anne Bogart, and the SITI Theatre Company, coupled with her studies at the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation in Moscow and masterclasses with theatre professionals across England, Ireland, and Scotland, brings a global perspective and exposure to best practices to her work across theatre, arts education, and creativity.

Having directed almost 50 productions, Catherine’s notable works include The Crucible, Animal Farm, Romeo and Juliet, Alice in Wonderland, The Railway Children, Seven Jewish Children, The House of Oedipus, Dancing at Lughnasa, and The Devil in Drag. Her playwright credits include Soulmates, Tell Me a Story, If I Was in the GPO We Would Have Won, Pay the Price, and her most recent work, Open Your Mouth.
