Creative thinking for better ways of working

Workplaces depend on people being able to communicate well, work with others, adapt when things change and respond constructively when there is pressure or uncertainty. My business workshops use theatre-based approaches to explore these skills in a practical and engaging way.

Rather than relying on presentation-led training, I invite participants to actively take part. They work through exercises, play, notice what happens and how they respond and reflect on how the learning connects to their own workplace.

I draw on methods from theatre and the rehearsal room, including listening, improvisation, presence, group work and reflection. These approaches can reveal a great deal about how people communicate, how teams function and how individuals respond when they are asked to lead, collaborate or think on their feet.

Theatre is useful because it gives people a chance to practise. In a rehearsal room, we do not expect to get everything right first time. We try, adjust, listen, respond and try again. That process has a clear value in professional life.

The aim is not to turn people into performers. It is to help people become more aware of how they communicate and work with others, and to give them practical ways to try something different.

Workshops can be shaped around:

  • communication and presence
  • leadership and confidence
  • teamwork and collaboration
  • listening and empathy
  • creativity and problem-solving
  • responding to change
  • building trust within teams

Sessions can be designed for an individual team, a wider staff group or an organisation looking for a different approach to professional learning. They can work as a focused workshop, a team development day or part of a longer programme.

The emphasis is always on making the work relevant, practical and useful – so that participants leave with something they can apply in the workplace, not just something they experienced in the room.
